ACTIVITY #1: The Community Around You

a. Enumerate at least 3 factors that affect health in your community according to the
health determinants in the Optimum Level of Functioning (OLOF) Wheel. (12 points)

a. What was your basis in identifying your answers in Activity 1.a? Were these factors
addressed in terms of health care delivery? (3 points)
- My basis in identify this is my community, I look and tried to observed my community
and see this. Some factors like alcoholic drinking, smoking and unhealthy diet isn’t
address in terms of health care delivery this is I think because it depends how you
control and took good care of yourself, it depends on how you really want it change
and stop from drinking alcoholic drinks and smoking and also I haven’t seen so far in
my community that there are people who educate or made a forum with regards to
this.
These are the reasons why there are a lot of people in my community are having
difficulties in terms of their health, even though the health center is near it isn’t always
open and the medicines are limited and sometimes they lack of those medicines.

b. If you are the community health nurse, how will you address this situation? (2 points)
- If I am the community health nurse I will address this situation by teaching them what
are the effects of unhealthy habits such as smoking and alcoholic drinking and also
how it destroys our body and affect our life and way of thinking. I will encourage them
to be more engage in our community, such as making events like basketball
competition or volleyball. In this way I could be able to divert their attention in rather
than to their vices that would only destroy them. As their community health nurse it is
my responsibility to teach them and to give them knowledge about their health.
 c. What have you noticed with regard to the overall health of your community? (3 points)

 I’ve notice that the overall health in my community is mostly cause by cigarette smoking and
alcoholic drinking. Also there is a lot of diseases like diabetes and hypertension that can be
observed in my community. Also most of the people in my community doesn’t know or didn’t
even try to visit and ask about their health in the health center, and also most people who
receives right amount of care are those people who happens to have a position in the
government or those people who already have a good status in the community.
