REFLECTION PAPER

ARTICLE 1: “I BELIEVE IN GOD, THE FATHER ALMIGHTY, CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND
EARTH.”

The Apostles' Creed's first article is also the most crucial: it establishes the foundation
for almost everything we believe as Christians. The simple statement, "I believe in God,
theFather Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth," contains a surprising number of faith
truths.

There are numerous ways to demonstrate our Catholic faith in our daily lives. Many
things are done to demonstrate the Works of Mercy. We enjoy showing others kindness
and compassion. “Be merciful, as your Father also is merciful,” Luke wrote, implying that
we should show mercy to others. We all take part in works of mercy, reconciliation, and
pilgrimage. Mercy works, such as feeding the hungry or providing a drink to the thirsty, are
acts of kindness. Growing up studying in a Catholic School, does mold me into becoming a
better disciple of God. I, myself, like to express my catholic faith by joining the Catechism.
Every once a week, I commit myself to teach the youth. Introducing them into the world of
Christianity and helping them to deepen their relationship with the Lord. The act of
pilgrimage is a great way to demonstrate true faith. Pilgrimage is a journey undertaken for
the sake of one's faith, not because one already has it, but because one wishes to.

As a result, the phrase "I believe in God" has two meanings. We believe God first because
we know that He exists and that He, more than anyone else, deserves to be believed. He can
neither deceive nor be deceived because He is all-knowing and all-good. But we also believe
in God because we take everything He has revealed to us about Himself and His plan for
humanity at His word.

Faith is a form of knowledge, after all. It is substantial understanding because we can

know that God exists based on reason. We can also assert that He has revealed Himself to
us through the signs and wonders He has performed to make His revelations truthful in our
minds. Faith, on the other hand, gives us superior knowledge, far beyond what we could
ever learn through our reasoning.
