Preliminary Inspection
Before using this section, perform an “On-Board
Diagnosis (OBD) Systems Check’, then check al of the
items shown below.
+ ECM and MIL (Check Engine lamp) are operating
correctly.
+ Check the DTC,
+ The scan tool is within the normal operating range.
+ Check the customer's complaint, and find
appropriate symptoms from the table of contents.
Carry out the procedures shown in the symptoms
chart.
+ Check with the customer that the specified
(correct) engine oil and fuel are being used,
Visual Inspection
Some symptom diagnosis procedures need careful
visual inspection. This visual inspection helps correct
the problem with no further inspection, thus. saving
valuable time,
This visual inspection includes the following items,
+ Correct connection, loose attachments and broken
Wires in the electrical wiring
Engine Control System (6WF1) 14-235
‘Commercial accessory power module is not used
from branch of the Engine Control Module (ECM)
power supply.
‘Check that Check the ECM earth is not dirty, and it
ie firmly attached in the correct location.
Pipes and hoses related to fuel, air and oll are not
‘racked or twisted, and are connected correctly
‘Thoroughly check for any kind of block or leakage.
Check that there is no fuel leakage, no dents or
‘damage to the pipes of the fuel system,
Air intake system pars faults
Exhaust system parts faults.
Diagnostic Aids
Fuel quality (product other than the specified
product is used, etc.)
Air mixed in fuel system
Engine coolant temperature sensor, fuel
temperature sensor, intake air temperature sensor,
boost sensor faults
‘Main engine faults (lack of compression pressure,
piston related, turbo charger, oil rise/drop, etc.)
ECM faults (ECM main body, power supply, GND.
etc.)

41. Replace the fuel inside the fuel tank and fuel
lines.
2. Start the engine and drive the vehicle to check

Inspect the mechanical timing on both the
