Oft in sorrow, oft in woe, Let not sorrow dim your eye,
Onward, Christian, onward go: Soon shall every tear be dry;
Fight the fight, maintain the strife Let not fears your course impede,
Strengthened with the Bread of life. Great your strength, if great your need.
Onward Christians, onward go, Onward then in battle move,
Join the war, and face the foe; More than conquerors ye shall prove;
Faint not: Much does yet remain, Though opposed by many a foe,
Dreary is the long campaign. Christian soldiers onward go.
Let your drooping hearts be glad: Henry K. White
March in heavenly armor clad:
Fight, nor think the battle long,
Victory soon shall be your song.
