Maravilla Martínez

Sergio Gabriel Martínez was born on February 21, 1975, in the Buenos Aires town of Avellaneda, in Argentina, although
his childhood and adolescence would take place in Quilmes and Claypole. His school education was interrupted at the
age of 13 as a result of having to start working to help his family financially, which was never in a comfortable situation.

In her younger, together with his father, would carry out various trades such as welder, bricklayer, among others.

He started at the age of 20 and after a successful amateur career he made his professional debut in 1997. Although he
suffered some scams along the way, which even led him to leave the country and look for new professional horizons in
Spain, Martínez never postponed his dream of being the best boxer in the world and he headed towards that goal and

In March 2009, Martínez achieves a rare milestone in the sport he practices as the World Boxing Council (WBC)
consecrates him as super welterweight champion and a year later he becomes middleweight champion.

On September 15, 2012, Maravilla amazed the boxing world and his compatriots by becoming the World Boxing Council
(WBC) middleweight champion after defeating his rival Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on points in the last round. He has a
record of 53 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws. He is WBO Latin Champion and Argentine Champion (Welter). WBC Latino
Champion, IBO Champion, WBC Interim Champion and WBC Absolute Champion (Superwelter).

Maravilla Martinez is the clear example that it is never too late to reach your goals, that it is never too late to start and
that you do not give up and fight for what you want so that with effort and perseverance you will achieve everything you
set your mind to.
