1. An escalator is fixed on a vertical wall of height 10 m of a hall of size 15 m (L) x 8 m (D).
Escalator starts at A on the floor at a distance of 2 m away from the left shorter wall and ends
at B located at the top corner of intersection of the rear wall and the right shorter wall. The
distance between point A and B measured on the floor parallel to the shorter wall is 6 m.
Determine the time required to move from point A to B through escalator moving at a
constant speed of 2 km/hr. Also determine the true inclination of escalator with the shorter
wall. Use 0.25 AutoCAD unit = 1 m i.e. 1grid spacing = 1 m. Follow first angle method of
projection. (Neglect the width of the escalator) [20]
2. A regular hexagonal lamina of 100 mm side, is resting on HP on one of its sides such that the
side is parallel to VP and the lamina is inclined to HP at 450. Draw the projections of the
lamina held in this position using third angle method of projection. [20]
3. The development of the lateral surface of an object is a semicircle of 200 mm diameter.
Inscribe the largest possible regular hexagon in the semicircle, so that one of the corners of
the hexagon coincides with the centre of the semicircle and the diagonal through that corner
is perpendicular to the diameter line of the semi circle. [Use 12 point radial division]
i. Draw the plan and elevation of the object showing its dimensions, following third
angle method of projection.
ii. Draw the development of the lateral surface of the solid with regular hexagon in it.
iii. Transfer the inscribed hexagon in the plan and elevation such that the corner
point of the hexagon, coinciding with the centre of the semicircle in the
development, is nearest to the observer. [40]
4. A square prism (base edge = 150 mm; height = 250 mm), is resting on its base on the ground
with a vertical face inclined at 30° to VP (refer Fig. Q4). It is completely interpenetrated by
another square prism (base edge = 100 mm; height = 250 mm) whose axis is parallel to both
HP and VP and at a distance of 34.15 mm from the axis of the vertical prism towards the
observer. The penetrating prism has one of its rectangular faces inclined at 30° to the ground
(refer Fig. Q4) and its axis 100 mm above the ground. Retain the solids after interpenetration.
Following third angle method of projection,
i. Draw the projections of the two interpenetrating solids.
ii. Draw the intersection profile (visible lines in GREEN and hidden lines in RED) in
all the views after locating the key points.
iii. Trim the lines which have lost their identities due to interpenetration (assuming
the interpenetrating solid merges with the base solid after interpenetration) in the
FV and TV. [40]
[The 30° orientations for both the solids should be as shown in the figure below.]

1. A hitman standing on top of a 100 m high building (at position A) targeted to kill a person
standing on top of another 10 m high building (at position B). As seen in aerial view, A is at a
distance of 200 m and due 55o east of the south of B. How much time the bullet (from A) will
take to hit the person at the top of the 10 m building (at B) if it is fired at a speed of 520
m/s? Also determine the true inclination of the bullet with the ground. Use 0.25 AutoCAD
unit = 10 m i.e. 1grid spacing = 10 m. Follow third angle method of projection. [20]
2. Draw the projections of a semicircular lamina of 200 mm diameter, when it is resting on HP
on its diameter A‐B, such that the diameter A‐B is inclined at 450 to VP and surface of the
lamina is making an angle of 300 to HP. End A of diameter is nearer to VP and is at a distance
of 50 mm from it. Use first angle method of projection. [Take 7 equidistant points on
semicircular edge of lamina.] [20]
3. An army tent is standing on the ground in the form of a half cone of radius 4 m and height 9
m. [Use 0.25 AutoCAD unit = 1 m i.e. 1grid spacing = 1 m.]
a. Draw the elevation and plan of the tent such that its triangular face is parallel to VP
and away from the observer, following third angle method of projection.
b. Draw the development of the lateral surface of the tent if it is to be opened at the
leftmost edge in the CW direction. [Use 8 radial divisions of the cone]
c. Inscribe the largest possible circle on the developed arc and show its radius. Transfer
the inscribed circle in the plan and elevation. [40]
4. A hexagonal pyramid (base edge = 100 mm; height = 225 mm) is resting on its base on the
ground with two opposite base edges perpendicular to VP. It is completely interpenetrated
by a triangular prism (base edge = 100 mm, height = 225 mm) whose axis is parallel to both
HP and VP and at a distance of 75 mm from the ground. While interpenetrating, one of the
rectangular faces of the triangular prism is parallel to VP and away from the observer; and
the lateral edge opposite to that face intersects the slant edge of the pyramid nearest to the
observer. Retain the solids after interpenetration. Following third angle method of
projection,
i. Draw the projections of the two interpenetrating solids.
ii. Draw the intersection profile (visible lines in GREEN and hidden lines in RED) in
all the views after locating the key points.
iii. Trim the lines which have lost their identities due to interpenetration (assuming
the interpenetrating solid merges with the base solid after interpenetration) in the
FV and TV. [40]

1. A pipeline originating from the bottom of a water tank (Point A) ends at the base of a tree at
ground level (Point B) to water the same. The water tank and tree are located at a distance of
5 m and 15 m respectively from the left compound wall of a farm. The water tank is due 50o
west of south of tree in aerial view. Determine the height of Point A from the ground level, if
the time required by the water, flowing at a rate of 1.2 m/s, starting from point A to reach the
base of the tree is 11 sec. Also determine the true inclination of the pipeline with the ground.

projection. [20]
2. Draw the projections of a pentagonal plane, side 100 mm, resting in the HP on one of its
