TITLE:

The Cooling Effect Caused By Solar Geoengineering: A

Promising Makeshift or an Irreversible Solution-Like
Catastrophe

This paper is intended to serve as a research concept about the

In-depth analysis of two-sided suppositional effects of Solar
Geoengineering and viable Aerosol-Climate and Weather
interactions in Solar Geoengineering such as Stratospheric
Aerosol Injection and Marine Cloud Brightening. This paper is
divided by 5 parts.

INTRODUCTION:

BACKGROUND:

We already see the effects of the climate change as the global

temperature increases because of the use of human-produced
greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide gas over the past
decades. United States Environmental Protection Agency states
that climate change impacts our health, environment and economy
by threatening rise of sea levels in coastal communities,
increases heat waves intensity by the warmer temperature as well
as the extreme weather events. It also worsens air and water
quality which can impact on human health, changing the ecosystems
that can affect the plant’s reproduction as well as animal’s
migration.(NASA,n.d.)

i. The Climate change effects because of global warming

ii. The Existence of Greenhouse Gases and Aerosols

iii. Direct and indirect effects of Aerosols

iv. Anthropogenic and natural source

v. Possible solution for global warming

a. Carbon dioxide emission

b. Solar radiation modification

1. Marine cloud brightening.

2. Cirrus cloud thinning.

3. Space-based techniques.

4. Stratospheric aerosol intervention.

BODY:

Importance:

The Cooling Effect Caused By Solar Geoengineering: A Promising

Makeshift or an Irreversible Solution-Like Catastrophe is a
research tends to analyze subtle details that can help on
providing information from an existing data about Solar radiation
modification, up to date climate change situation, and natural
Aerosol usage as global warming solution that the findings of
this study will redound to the benefit of society as global
climate change effects was already visible giving providing the
analyzed studies for further comprehension about the promising
global warming solution. This research will able to give them
gathered essential information that their future researches
require and can be grounds for potential research regarding two-
sided effects of SRM. It is also beneficial for meteorological
agencies as it provides assessments pertinent to decision-making.
OBJECTIVES:

The objective of this research aims to investigate the better

and worse possible effects Solar Geoengineering and the viable
weather and climate interactions of aerosols by SAI and MCB from
the existing studies and articles. Explaining the hypothetical
descriptive future atmospheric phenomenon caused by solar
radiation management.

i. In-depth analysis of existing information about good and

the hypothesized bad effects of solar radiation
modification.

ii. Investigate the possible weather and climate interactions

of aerosols using SSI and MCB.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS

i. Why the use of solar Geoengineering is the risky yet

immediate solution for Climate change to mitigate global
warming?

a. The hypothetical good and bad effects of Solar

Radiation Management

1. Global effect

2. Ecological effect

ii. Why do climate and weather said to be affected by

Stratospheric Aerosol Injection and Marine cloud
brightening?

a. The theorized aerosol interactions by SAI and MCB in

Weather and Climate

METHODOLOGY

In order to satisfy the objectives of the dissertation, a

secondary data analysis was held. The main characteristics of
Secondary data analysis; they are the latest published data or
derivative data, information collected from various internal and
external sources. They are used as a supplementary to primary
data. They are used for defining and evaluating problems that was
relatively cheaper; they need less efforts, time, and money.
