SUGGESTED OUTLINE for the TERM PAPER

INTRODUCTION
Introduce the topic, define some words, terms, and concepts which you’ll be using in
your paper.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND/HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT


Looking back, give a brief account on the historical development about the topic assigned
to you.
Use subheading, Historical Development, if your topic followed clear stages of
development, otherwise, just use subheading, Historical Background.

FACTS and FIGURES


Find the latest data available to you. If your topic is something not practiced or not legal
in the Philippines, use the data available in other countries such as the US. In this section
you include pies, charts, tables, graphs, etc., accompanied by corresponding brief
explanation about the data presented.

BIBLICAL VIEW
Cite specific biblical passages dealing with the issues/topics assigned to you, and their
interpretations. Otherwise, just refer to general teachings/principles in the Bible about your
assigned topic.

CHURCH VIEW
In as much as there are two mainstreams of Catholic Christianity in the Philippines, divide
your discussion in this section as follows:

ROMAN CATHOLIC VIEW


Give the Roman Catholic Church’s teaching/interpretation/position on this topic.

PROTESTANT VIEW
Give the Protestant Church’s stand/teaching on this topic.

ARGUMENTS
Most of the topics assigned to you are argumentative, hence, present pros and cons.

ARGUMENTS FOR
Present as many arguments for (pros) that you can gather, briefly explain each.

ARGUMENTS AGAINST
So as not to be one sided, present as many arguments against (cons), briefly explain
each.

ETHICAL/MORAL VIEW (or INSIGHTS)


This is the most important section in your Term Paper, so important that this section
must have no less than 200 words.
Looking back on its historical development, after taking a closer look at facts and figures,
after listening to what Bible has to say, after taking into account the corresponding
interpretations/teachings/views of the churches, and after carefully weighing the arguments
for and against, make your own stand on the issue/topic.
The content on this section should contain at least 60% your own words.

Point out arguments that support your stand, and do your best to refute the arguments
against your stand.

Acknowledge your sources: using either foot noting, parenthetical citation, end-notes, or
direct quotation.

Use at least 2 major sources (scholarly books), after meeting the 2 minimum req’d. major
sources, you can use other printed materials, e-sources or the internet.

This term paper will be submitted as document, pdf file.


Prepare for a power point group presentation in class, schedule of presentations will be
reflected on your Weekly bulletin.
