1. Determine the reinforcement required of a beam of b =350 mm, d = 600 mm, D = 650 10
mm and subjected to factored Mu = 200 kN-m, factored Tu = 60 kt~-m and factored
Vu = 80 kN. Use M 25 and Fe 415 for the design.

2. A short rectangular column with overall size 300 mm X 500 mm subjected to an 10


ultimate axial load of 1400kN together with ultimate moments of 110 kN m and 80 KN
m about the major and minor axis respectively .Adopt M-20 grade of concrete and Fe
415 (HYSD bar),Assume (d'ID)=O.1

3. Design a simply supported beam of effective span 7 m su~jected to imposed loads of 10


30 kN/m. The beam dimensions and other data are: b = 300 mm, D = 650 mm, M 20
concrete, Fe 415 steel ,Assume d'=60 mm. Check Minimum and Maximum tension
and compression steel.

4. Check the Stability condition of a cantilever retaining wall (T-Type) to retain earth for 10
a height of 4.5m. The backfill is horizontal. The density of soil is 17kN/m3• Safe

5. Design a slab panel for a room having effective dimensions for 4.5m X 5.5 m. The slab 15
has two short edge continuous and two long edges discontinuous. The slab carries a
live load of 2.5 kNl m 2 and a finishing load of I kNl m 2 • Design the panel using M20
concrete and Fe 415 steel. Provided all the checks as per code. Sketch the
reinforcement details.

6. Two column CI and C2 spaced 4 m c/c apart are having size 300 mm x 300 mm and 15
350 mm x 350 mm respectively. The column C1 carries 1050 kN axial and column C2
carries 1250 kN axial load. Design a combined footing for column if the width of
