Introduction
Social media marketing in a current content is the growing platform for marketing about the
contents, products, and services in this digital world. The world is getting digitalized over the use
of a internet by 4.9 billion internet users. The usage of cell phone has also increased due to which
the engagement of a public towards social media has increase where addiction of a youth has
been seen the most.

Objectives of the study


The objectives of our research work are:

 To identify the uses of social media to know the trends over past five years
 To explore the new social media tools to efficiently and effectively interact with current
and future students

Social media Tools to be considered


The three major social media tools that the college could consider are:

 Facebook : Facebook is a website that allows users to make profiles to connect with
friends, collegues or people they don’t know online and also to share pictures, music,
videos as well as their own thoughts and opinions. The best part about Facebook is that
everyone is on it and especially the students love connecting with their friends on
Facebook as they may feel easier to express themselves online when compare to the real
world because they perhaps may feel the virtual world is more secure.
 Instagram: Instagram is a social networking app which allows its users to share pictures
and videos with their colleagues. The main reason why Instagram is being popular among
the youngsters is because of the photos and effects available to them. Instagram is
visually attractive, has wide range of options, has global reach and can be used
professionally as well.
 Twitter: Twitter is a social networking service where users can post and interact with
messages known as tweets. The best way to use twitter for teaching is as a reminder to
students that they need to complete an assignment for a particular due date or they have
an exam coming up soon, so study this or that.

user. In 2021, there has been 80% of population who were active compared to 2015 where the
users’ population was 58%.

The tool that is best suited in the context of Rhodes College is Instagram. As mentioned earlier
we have nalaysed three major social media tools that the college should consider and they are
facebook, instagram and twitter. All three have their own benefits but looking at the trend since
the past five years instagram seems to be on the top in terms of usage and popularity. Most of the
students and youths in the age 18-35 years are more interested in Instagram like apps. Therefore
after thorough analysis of the three tools and also on the basis of the cas study scenario provided
to us the best suited tool is Instagram. Students love instagram for various reasons, one of which
is photos and effects, the feature of messaging and connecting each other, creating groups, the
option of video call, posting you daily life, opinions, likes and dislikes etc. Teachers can use
instagram to create assignments that tap into the need to instagram such as photo essays where
students take photos, upload, and add captions or students can even create campaigns for certain
lessons.

Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving the visibility of the site when a people
search information or a keyword related to business in an organic search result. The content in
the website is so filtered out, along the relevant key word are used so as the website gets appears
at an organic search result.

The positive impacts of search engine optimization for the college are:

 Mobile friendly for those students who are addicted to their cell phones.
 Cost saving as SEO is totally free of cost.
 Use of a keyword planner, Google my business helps to make content more of a relevant
to the keyword searched.

The negative impacts of search engine optimization for the college are:

 Slow result
 Sometime expertise advice is needed during SEO process
 To make content visible, high dedication and effort is required to make a better content.

As mentioned in the case student scenario, the marketing manager has allocated a budget of $500
per month for the following financial year and they are planning to spend this budget with the
Search Engine Optimization provider. Looking at the positive and negative Impact that Search
Engine Optimization has on this college in my opinion it is not a good idea to spend $500 per
month on SEO. Though it has many advantages but we can’t ignore the negative impacts as well.
Also, looking at the latest trend, social media marketing is much more effective than SEO.

There are many ways you can spend the $500 per month to achieve the outcomes described in
the above scenario. One of the best ways is Social Media Marketing, such as Viral Marketing,
use of instagram, facebook, twitter to share information to the students. We can sponsor the
college adverstisements, can involve Promotional Marketing techniques that can help reach
wider range of students. The money could be spent for collaborating with others, boosting the
college page etc.

Conclusion
In this report we have come to a conclusion to use social media marketing tools for the better
platform to interact more effectively and efficiently with both current and future student as well
as attract new student in current courses. The budget has been allocated for paid promotion,
along viral marketing
