INTRO: Vedantu is a multinational educational platform based in India.

Bengaluru, Karnataka, India is


the company's headquarters. It is India's premier online tutoring company, allowing students to
learn LIVE from some of the best-curated experts in the country.The company employs 500+
teachers who have collectively taught over one million hours to 40,000+ students in 1000+ places
across 30+ nations. Students can participate in LIVE sessions provided by the company. It is a well-
known educational app. It has just updated its new features in order to make it more effective. It
was founded in 2011. Vedantu is derived from the Sanskrit words Veda (knowledge) and
Tantu (network). Vedantu's online tutoring platform allows a teacher and a student to engage in real
time. Individual and group classes are available. Vedantu communicates with students using a two-
way interactive whiteboard that serves as a bridge for sharing LIVE audio and video feeds. Vamsi
Krishna (Co-Founder & CEO), Pulkit Jain (Co-Founder & Head of Product), Saurabh Saxena (Co-
Founder), and Anand Prakash(Co-Founder & Head of Academics) are all IIT alumni who run this
organisation. Previously, the team founded Lakshya, which was acquired by MT Educare (a
subsidiary of Zee Learn) in 2012. It mostly caters Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and
Central Board of Secondary Education students in Grades 4 to 12. Live online tutoring in STEM, Hindi,
English, Sanskrit, German, French, Environmental Science, and Social Science is currently the
company's primary business. For their 1-1 student teacher live sessions, it uses the White Board
Audio Video Environment (WAVE) technology. It offers exam preparation classes for the Indian
Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Foundation, the National Talent Search
Examination (NTSE), the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), and the Problem Solving
Assessment (PSA).

FUNDING: After six months of current operational format, the company has raised its first round of
funding. In its Series A funding, it received $5 million from Accel Partners and Tiger Global
Management. It intends to use the funds to develop scalable technological solutions for tablets and
mobile devices that can handle hundreds of live learning sessions at once. Vedantu has raised $11
million in a Series B funding round led by Silicon Valley impact investment firm Omidyar Network,
with current investor Accel Partners contributing as well. Vedantu announced on August 29, 2019,
that it had raised $42 million in a Series C funding round for expansion in India. Vedantu raised $100
million in fundraising in July 2020, led by Coatue, a venture capital firm based in the United States.
Vedantu's overall fund tally now stands at over $200 million, according to the recent funding.
According to Fintrackr, Vedantu raised $100 million the next year at a post-money valuation of over
$500 million.

ACQUISITION: Vedantu made its first purchase in February 2021, when it paid an unknown sum for
Instasolv. In July 2020, Vedantu made a $2 million investment in Instasolv.

It invested in Pedagogy, an AI-enabled learning platform, in July 2021.
