Dear Dr.

Jose Rizal,

I am writing this letter to express my gratitude for all that you’ve done for us and for this country. I’ve
only met you through the books and our professors, but I know those scriptures, descriptions and sayings
about has a less of who truly you are. You are our greatest hero and teacher. Without your fight, we
wouldn’t be in this kind of situation.

We were taught that you were not just a mere poet, but also an author, an ophthalmologist and a
journalist. You really do possess a great mind at such a young age. You have done a lot of work that
dedicates all your will for this country. If only we could possess such great talent and knowledge then
maybe we could still make this country great once again.

You may have seen how mess we are at the moment. People fighting over power and had forgotten how
once your sacrifices had made just to speak up against the oppressors. Your heroism had opened the eyes
of all Filipinos to fight for what is right, to fight for our country and to fight for our freedom for the future
of the Filipino youths. If only one of us can do the same thing you’ve done then maybe this country won’t
be at its worst. But I do hope we don’t have to die like you did just to accomplish things that will make
this once forgotten country rise.

Despite everything, thank you for all your sacrifices and lessons for us. You have inspired us to unleash
our inner hero by being the best version of ourselves as we struggle to restore integrity to our institutions
in this modern times. Your accomplishment for this nation will never be forgotten. We thank you for
being our hero. You may have been executed but you’ve left a memory and a lesson that will forever be
passed down to our children and to their children.

Sincerely yours,
Shermajal Urbano Manzano
