The growth of technology has been up in recent years; almost everyone is connected to the

internet and has their social media accounts. The fact that the internet is open to everyone,
including teenagers, is becoming alarming to parents because it's affecting their development.
Too much involvement in social media can lead to depression, loneliness and withdrawal, and
lowering self-esteem. For example, a teenage girl comparing herself to celebrities wishing to
have exact body figures, dressing styles, and voice affects her identity. They end up hating
themselves and having low self-esteem. Parents should find ways to connect with their children
because when they don't, teenagers seek that connection online, leading to compromising their
identity.
