5. There are 160 people in a swimming pool. 20% of the people are male adults, 35% are female
adults and the remaining are children. How many children are there in the swimming pool?

6. 35% of the students in a school joined the singing contest and 650 students did not join. Find
the total number of students in the school.

7. The scores of Issac in the first test and the second test are 20 and 40 respectively. Find the
percentage change in his test score.

8. The price of a painting is $4000. If the percentage change in price is 25%, find the new price
of the painting.

9. After a rubber band has been extended for 24 cm, its length is increased by 30%. Find the
original length and the new length of the rubber band.

10. The average temperature on Friday was 24C, and had fallen by 25% as compared with
Thursday. What was the average temperature on Thursday?

EYA 11. The tuition fees set by tutor A and tutor B are $200 and $360 per hour respectively. Now, these
fees are increased to $272 and $486 per hour respectively. Whose tuition fee has a larger

the marked price. He can either use a cash coupon of $200 or a certain credit card for a
discount of 13% on the total bill inclusive of the service charge. Should David use the cash

35. In a department store, the total cost price of 30 identical audio systems is $51 000. If each
audio system is sold at 15% off, the department store will make a profit of 25%. Find

36. If the discount per cent of a motorbike in a showroom is changed from 12% to 15%, the selling
