RUMBA

Rumba is universally recognised as a love dance. It's danced to slow, sensual music with a Latin beat
and features a hip movement known as "Cuban Motion." It's derived from the Afro-Caribbean dance
"Son" and has been popular in this country since the 1930s as a ballroom dance.

FOXTROT

A smooth, progressive dance, the foxtrot is characterized by long, continuous flowing motions on the
dance floor. It is danced to (usually vocal) big band music. The dance is similar to waltz in its
appearance, although the rhythm is 4 in a 4 Time Signature instead of 3/4. The foxtrot, created in the
1910s, reached its height of popularity in the 1930s and is still practiced today.

VIENNESE WALTZ

It is a fast paced rotative dance (180 times a minute) in which the dancers continuously wander in
either the clockwise (natural) or the clockwise (reverse) direction and turn between the rotation
directions by non-rotatory shift moves. A true waltz from Vienna consists of turns and steps to alter.

TANGO

Tango is a lively and playful dance between two people. It has a very rich capacity for expression,
improvisation and interaction, and dances in both modern and traditional styles. Due to the close
relation partners may have, the character of the music, and also linked to some of the history of the
dance, it is often characterized as a passionate dance.
