for the
Vitros 250 Chemistry System

Purpose: To provide the following after installation of a new INCUBATOR COVER and TIP LOCATOR
COVER:
• Easy installation and removal of the INCUBATOR COVER.
• Easy access to the INCUBATOR.
• Improved reliability of the 250 Chemistry System by eliminating false errors caused by
INTERLOCK SWITCHES.
This Modification is also a prerequisite to installation of the IMMUNO•WASH METERING
ASSEMBLY.

Important
Only qualified personnel should install this modification.
Service Effects: Reduces the number of parts in the service publication.
Special Requirements: None.
Serial Numbers: 25010101 - 25010944.
Installation Time: 2.3 hours.
Special Tools: None.
Parts Status: The Modification Kit is available at the Central Warehouse.

 SCREW (3) [1] From the main menu, touch “SHUTDOWN
ANALYZER”.
[2] At the prompt, “This function will require a
reboot. Do you wish to continue?”, enter [Y] and
press [øEnter].
[3] When “The ANALYZER has been shutdown,
Reset or power down is required.” is displayed,
de-energize the 250 Chemistry System.
[4] Remove and discard the INCUBATOR COVER.
[5] Remove:
• 3 SCREWS
• 3 GUIDE POSTS
• 2 SCREWS
• magnetic STRIKE PLATE
Note
Do not remove the SHIM under the STRIKE PLATE.

[6] Remove the 2 SCREWS and the VIEW•PORT

COVER.
[7] Install the new VIEW•PORT COVER 999182.

[14] Disconnect the 4 wires from the 2 INTERLOCK SWITCHES.

[15] Remove the 2 SCREWS.
[16] Remove and discard the 2 INTERLOCK SWITCHES and BRACKET ASSEMBLY.
[17] Cut:
• the 4 CONNECTORS and discard them
• 1 cm of insulation from the end of each of the 4 wires
[18] Use the 2 SPLICE CLOSED END CRIMPS 682553 to terminate the wires in pairs by color:
• red with black
• green with white
[19] From the back of the 250 Chemistry System, push the disconnected CABLE behind the ISO BOARD. The
CABLE will remain disconnected and inactive.
[20] Remove:
• 4 SCREWS
• 2 LATCHES

[21] Remove the 2 SCREWS.

• new BRACKET ASSEMBLY 999178
• 2 SCREWS, tighten partially
[24] Apply the ESD LABEL 1C2172 to the cover of
the ELECTROMETER.

[25] Install the new INCUBATOR COVER 1C2096. If necessary, adjust the BRACKET ASSEMBLY for the
INTERLOCK SWITCH and tighten the 2 SCREWS.
[26] Install new TIP LOCATOR COVER 1C2188.

[32] Use a SOLDERING IRON to install the JUMPER

3A3J/P6 1C3408 on the POWER DISTRIBUTION
BOARD as indicated in the illustration.
3A3J/P3 [33] For both PIN 10 (red wire) and PIN 22 (black
wire) on 3A3P1:

(a) Cut the wires close to the CONNECTOR.

(b) Cut the wires close to the CABLE
3A3J/P5 insulation.

Removing a length of the wire will prevent a short
3A3J/P4 circuit in the wires.
[34] Connect all the CONNECTORS and install the
3A3J/P1
POWER DISTRIBUTION BOARD.
