Establishment/Development of Inland Fishing Projects

Project Cost:
The estimated Cost of the Project is Php 2,000,000.

Brief Description:
This project underscored the importance of the fish as a prime source of protein and a
livelihood to prospective farmers. This project will cater those barangays which are
suited to inland fishing and with readily available source of water. This will be a pilot
project for a more comprehensive inland fishing programs in the municipality. A success
of this project would mean an alternative livelihood to farmers and decrease the
pressures in our marine and coastal resources.

Program Components:
All barangays or areas which is suitable for inland fishing in the Municipality of Monreal
will be the target beneficiaries of this project.

Program Implementor:
 Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-
BFAR)
 LGU- Office of the Municipal Agriculturist

This project will be implemented under the direct supervision of the DA-BFAR V and
LGU-Monreal through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist.

Justification:

Considering the insufficiencies of fish supplies, the exponential growth of population and
the pressures in our marine resources, strategies, programs and programs to address
all of these should be included in all government plans specifically the Local
Government Units. This project will not just help our farmers, fisherfolks as their
alternative livelihood but it will also help in addressing economic and coastal and marine
issues in the municipality.

Intended Beneficiaries:
Farmers and fisherfolks within the prospective areas of development.

Program Term:
Assessment of Sites, Construction of Ponds and other Facilities and Stocking

Target Output/Success Indicators:


1. Increase in income of farmers and fisherfolks.
2. There is high socio-economic development. They will improve the lives of the
farmers and fisherfolks through alternative livelihood.
3. The increase in fish production through inland fishing projects.

Possible Risks:
The possible risks in these projects will be prevalence of disease and destruction of
facilities because of natural calamities that could affect the production of inland fishing.

Expected Private Sector Response:


 The private sectors will innovate new equipment or products and technologies
that will enhance the fish production.
