OBJECTIVES

▪ Discuss the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Act of 2016


▪ Discuss the importance of continuing professional development program for all regulated
professions
▪ Explain the implementing rules and regulations of RA 10912
1. ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRA) and other International
Agreements
2. National and international alignment of competencies and qualifications
3. Validation, accreditation, and recognition of learning outcomes
4. Maintenance of core competencies and development of new
competencies
5. Contribution to general welfare, economic growth, and development of
the nation
Nature of CPD Programs
1. Formal learning – arrangements that take place in recognized
educational and training institutions, and which lead to granting diplomas
and qualifications

2. Nonformal learning – learning in addition to formal learning, which may
be structured and made more flexible according to arrangements

3. Informal learning – learning in daily life which can contribute to a
qualification

4. Self-directed learning – learning activities (i.e. online training, seminars,
non-degree courses, company-sponsored training programs) without
CPD accreditation but may be applied for CPD units

5. Online activities – structured or unstructured learning initiatives, which

6. Professional work experience –participation while working in a specific
