superlative degrees
2. to revise and extend ss’ knowledge of different intensifiers used in comparative
sentences
3. to practice the use of comparisons in a different context

Context: model sentences
Class organization: Lockstep, pair work
Activity: the ss are asked to read the sentences and complete them with the comparative or
superlative form of the adjective in brackets and discuss the rules;

The role of the teacher: participant, prompter
Type of interaction: T-s
Anticipated problems: ss may not understand all the words. The T will prompt where
necessary by using gestures, synonyms or the translation in Romanian.

 Objective 2 (Estimated time 10’ )


Context: a vocabulary exercise
Class organization: pair work
Activity: the ss are asked to complete ex. 2, (from the right side of page 71). They are asked to
look at the pictures and choose the correct alternative for each sentence (intensifiers); the ss
deduce the rules of the use of these intensifiers by answering the questions on page 72.

Anticipated problems: - ss may not understand all the words. The T will prompt where
necessary by using gestures, synonyms or translation into Romanian

Activity: the ss complete ex.3, page 72. They then proceed to prepare the speaking activity by
completing the tasks from ex. 4 and 5, page 72.

Anticipated problems: ss will probably make mistakes with two syllable adjectives or other
types. The T elicits correction from the class and then makes rules clear for everyone.

words transformations. They are then asked to read ex. 2 at home and complete ex. 3, page 72.
