Subordinating Conjunctions
• A subordinating conjunction joins two clauses to make one grammatically dependent on the
other.
• The clause that a subordinating conjunction introduces, is subordinate, or dependent,
because it cannot stand by itself as a complete sentence.
Common subordinating conjunctions: than, after, although, because, when, until, while, even if, as, since etc...
1. Although we’ve known each other for a very long time, we’re no more than acquaintances.
2. Mac, Richard, and Jose camped out in the backyard, so that they could watch a meteor storm.
3. Regular exercise is recommended because it helps you stay fit and healthy.
4. I helped mom clean up the kitchen before heading out for a movie.
6. Michelle was suppose to watch Adriana until her parents get back from dinner.

W visited his aunt in years since she has moved to Florida five years ago.
8. You should help me with the chores than just sitting down and watching TV all day.
