Unity in Diversity

Unity in diversity implies that no matter how the variety of people is, there are things that
attach us to unite. It can be achieved through understanding and respecting the differences of
individuals. We will learn to value and honor each other’s humanity, habits, and culture.

Regardless of the diversity of language, culture, and religion, people can welcome each
other with respect and understanding. Uniting in spite of differences means we belong in the
same place and let small similarities bind us to connect. Different people with different mindsets
who live in the same society that share same interests is the instance of unity in diversity. All
people breathe the same air, stepped on the same ground, treat each other the way we should
be treated, and these can prove that we are more alike regardless of our dissimilarities. We
must value and respect the differences of each other without being judgmental because that is
how unity in diversity works.

Unity in diversity is one of the characteristics of the Philippines and other countries. There
are cliques consisting of people with different religions and cultures but they share the same
interests and features. Also, it is not all about relations, it is also about being one; combined into
one despite the variance, through helping and getting each other’s back. In the same manner as
Filipinos, they volunteer to help and service other people who are indigent and deprived in spite
of their differences. Diversity is not a big thing; it is the connection and good intention that
matters above all. Unity means no matter how different people are, they still can act as a whole
and merge in the same place.

We can attain unity in diversity through loving and respecting the differences of all
individuals. In spite of culture and religion, people can be united into one. After all, we are more
alike than we are different.
