1.

I personally prefer “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by Taylor Coleridge

over “The Solitary Reaper”, mostly because of the plot, the storyline is very
complex and involves supernatural happenings, like magic and spells, it
also packs a lot more action compared to “The Solitary Reaper”. In both of
the poems one of the themes is nature, but in my opinion Coleridge does a
better job of implementing nature into the story as it pretty much ends up
being the main plot. The message that the poem translates, which is to love
and respect nature, is also stronger and more meaningful in equivalence to
“The Solitary Reaper”.

2. After the Mariner gets home, he goes to sleep, closes his eyes, and the
moment he opens them, he realizes he's back on the ship with the
albatross around his neck. He thinks it's just a dream and that he'll wake up
any moment, but after days and days on the ship, he realizes it isn't a
dream and he's reliving the exact moment again. After everything ends and
the mariner gets back home again he sees that the only thing that's
changed, is the person he had to tell the story of his voyage, a person that
must be taught love and reverence for all things God has made and loved.
He doesn't know why this is happening until he goes to sleep and wakes up
back on the ship and realizes he's stuck in a loop, having to go through the
same experience over and over again with the only thing being different is
the person getting told the story.
