OPERATION OF DIAPHRAGM ACTUATOR (CONTINUED MANUAL CLOSER (OPTIONAL): The top mounted manual closer is used to lock the valve n'a closed position and to manually close the valve when closing can not be accom- plished by gas pressure. Rotation of the handwheel in a clockwise direction closes the valve. Prior to opening the valve with gas pressure, the handwheel must be rotated counterclockwise until the screw is in the full-up position. The handwheel can not be used to open the valve. See Figure 8. If the actuator is not going into service immediately, the thread protectors (Item 24) should be installed into ‘the gas line connections.) ACTUATOR CONVERSIONS Conversion of a double-acting actuator to one with a manual closer or manual two-way mechanism may be done. Partial disassembly of the actuator is required to attach ‘the manual closer or manual two-way mechansim. Conversion of a double-acting to a spring-close or spring-open design actuator is not recommended due to the extensive part differences between them. It is more economical to purchase assembled units. -36- MAINTENANCE LUBRICATION SCHEDULE 1. A minimum of once a year. 2. Every three months if the’ actuator/valve combination is operated in- frequently (once a day or less). 3. Every 1,000 cycles if actuator/valve combination is operated more than 10 times a day. 4. Every 00 cycles if the actuator/valve combination is operated in corrosive or other severe service and operated more than 10 times a day. 5. Any time the actuator or valve is serviced for a leak. 6. Any time the actuator has been stored for more than three months and then put into service (even if the actuator has never been used). NOTE: Actuators that are mounted on high temperature valves, +600F (316C) and above, should be lubricated twice as often as reconmended above. RECONMENDED LUBRICANTS 1. Lubriplate "low temp" lubricant is recommended for pumping into grease fittings. 2, Fel Pro “C-102" anti-seize compound is recommended for use on external threads. 3. Lubriplate "LM 123-006" lubricant is recommended for use on O-rings or surfaces that rub against O-rings. 4. Mobi] “ATF 220" automatic transmission fluid is recommended for gas- over-oil tanks. WER-O1L_ TANK OIL LEVEL Refer to Figure 34. 1._Cycle valve to open position and maintain opening line pressure. WARNING: Failure to hold opening line pressure could cause valve to inadvertently close. 2. Remove fill plug cautiously as oi] could spray from fill hole if tank has any residual pressure or if tank was over-filled, 3. Fill or drain of1 to bring level to bottom of 111 hole.
