Regional Empirical Hydrological Model in Nepal

Nepal is a country of flow having large deviation in different season in a year. There are
maximum flow value in August and declining its value in February March. World
Meteorological Organization (WMO) mentioned that there should be at least 147 fully equipped
hydrometric stations in Nepal i.e. considering one station per square km of basin area (JICA,
1993). The present hydrological network does not cover the various remote basins where there is
a need for assessment of water availability for the purpose of design of various water resources
projects to make an estimate of available flow at the remote ungauged basins where there is little
or no data, various methods have been developed during last decades which are:

 Medium Irrigation Project (MIP) method

 WECS/DHM method
 Medium Hydropower Study Project (MHSP) method (NEA, 1997)
