➢ Show some jumbled letters and ask the students to guess the words.
➢ Post a letter puzzle on the board and let the students fill in the puzzle.

6.2.2 Motivation
➢ Show a different picture of ecosystems and ask the students about what they see on
the pictures.
➢ Tell them that the pictures are about ecosystem and this will be the focus of todays
lesson and the living and non living things that they have mention are the factors of
the ecosystem and later we will identify these factors.

6.2.3 Review
➢ Recall of their prior knowledge on environment and ecosystem.

6.3 Presentation
6.3.1 Discussion
➢ The teacher will do an interactive discussion about ecosystem using a PowerPoint
Presentation to answer the following questions and ideas. The teacher will allow
the students to speak or ask questions during the discussion.
➢ What is ecosystem?
✓ An ecosystem is made up of living and nonliving parts.
✓ Point out that different species of organisms interact among each other and
also interact with nonliving parts.
✓ If there are any changes in the components of an ecosystem, the ecosystem
will also change.
➢ How do living parts and nonliving parts interact?
✓ An ecosystem is a community of organisms and nonliving parts like, air
and water, in a particular area. They interact and systematically work
together.
➢ Living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem can be divided into three parts:
communities, habitats, and environments.
✓ Can you explain each?
✓ Can you give example of each parts?
➢ An ecosystem consists of Abiotic and biotic parts. Can you differentiate between
the two?
✓ What are the abiotic factors of the ecosystem? Can you give examples?

➢ After the discussion, the teacher will allow the students to do the experiment about
the ecosystem.
✓ The goal of the experiment is to explain the interactions of components in
the surveyed ecosystem.

➢ Allow enough time for the students to do the experiment. When they are finished
let them check the answer as a class.
➢ The teacher will also ask the students to answer Exercise 1.1 on page 10 of the
students’ book. After they finished answering the exercise, check as a class.

7. EVALUATION
7.1 Question and Answer Drill
To check students understanding, the teacher will ask random questions as the lesson
progresses. This includes recitation, board work, and during the group activity.

7.2 Student Worksheet


➢ The students will answer the Activity Sheets provided on the book and the Worksheets
that contain the exercises to be answered individually.

The following words are consistently used all throughout the lesson:
✓ ECOSYSTEM – is a community of organisms and nonliving parts, such as air, and
water, in a particular area that interact and work systematically together.
✓ COMMUNITY – a group of organisms living together in an area.
✓ HABITAT – the natural environment where organisms live.
✓ ENVIRONMENT – the surrounding that consists of the nonliving parts in which
organisms live.
✓ ABIOTIC FACTORS – it includes all the nonliving, chemical, and physical
elements of the ecosystems.
✓ BIOTIC – it includes the living organisms and once living organisms.
✓ PRODUCERS – organisms that make their own food such as plants, algae, and some
other unicellular organisms.
✓ CONSUMERS – organisms that cannot produce their own food but feed on other
organisms.
✓ DECOMPOSERS – organisms that cannot make their own food but obtain nutrients
by releasing enzymes to break down dead organisms into smaller particles and
absorbing them into cells.
✓ HERBIVORES – animals that feed on plants to get energy.
✓ CARNIVORES – animals that eat other animals to get energy.
✓ OMNIVORES – feed on both plants and other animals to get energy.
✓ SCAVENGERS – feed on dead animals to get energy.
