Good afternoon po!
For the first principle of human development, development is relatively orderly. The educational
implications that our group came up with are the following: let the development tendencies lead
the way. In here the cephalo-caudal and proximodistal tendencies in human development helps us
in arranging a pattern of suitable learning experiences, processes, and environmental set up to help
develop the children according to the trend and nature of these tendencies.
The next one is; As development is orderly, the educational system must be also systematic.
Just like in development, education was designed to be systematic. In which learning comes in
stages; it starts from acquiring the very basic form of knowledge then eventually to the harder and
more complicated ones. The educational systems follow suit, students must first succeed at a
grade level to proceed to the next. Thus, from primary to secondary to tertiary.
Lastly, The developmental stage of a student has a substantial impact on his ability
to learn. As a result, teachers must design and implement a curriculum that considers the
characteristics of students with respect to their developmental stages in life.
Kindergartners, for example, must initially learn the basics. Such as developing the skills
of writing, reading, and counting.
Furthermore, it is very important that the knowledge & learnings instilled to the students are
appropriate depending on stage that they are in. So that they can fully comprehend what is being
taught to them.
The second principle, While development pattern is likely to be similar, the outcomes of
developmental processes and the rate of development are likely to vary among individuals has
also its own educational implications.
First is that we should remember that education and development is not generic. Meaning,
we cannot generalize the development of each students. Individuals as unique as they are, and as
they face varying circumstances and environments, (they) develop in different ways and at
different rates that helps them in gaining differing capabilities and skills. Thus, children should
be developed naturally as possible. Children should not also be pressured to the things that they
are yet capable of.
Next implication is Learning outcomes are not uniform. In education, although the process,
curriculum, and topics are relatively similar the outcome varies for every student. Some students
may find a particular topic to be easy while others may find it hard. Others can easily absorb new
knowledge but others can't. So, in a sense education should be tailored to each student as much as
possible. Besides, every student has his/her own way of accepting and dealing with things.
Lastly, Every student is unique since they have different minds and hence learn, perform,
and understand in different ways. In here teachers must be aware of what the students need,
how they learn, and in what ways the quality of learning can be improved. They should provide
students with a diversity of learning opportunities, such as the use of various learning materials
and instructional methodologies. Thus allowing the students to learn more effectively by
uncovering their strengths and weaknesses.
Next principle is Development takes place gradually.
We all know that Improvement is not drastic. And as development doesn’t happen overnight,
one should not expect drastic improvement and changes in an individual especially after only a
short period of time. This teaches us that we should trust the process, while doing the right things,
and to someday see the changes/development that we worked hard for.
We should also remember that Development may not come all of a sudden but it accumulates over
time.
The next one is that Learning is a life-long process. Learning has its own stages. And usually, a
person becomes wiser as he ages. This is for the reason that as we live our knowledge also
increases. Thus, Educators should consider that students are learning progressively. Through
this, they will be able to impart the knowledge and skills that is suitable for them. Furthermore,
learning does not end inside the classroom as our experiences can also teach us a lot of things.
Lastly, Learning also takes place gradually. Teachers should focus more on making sure that
the quality of learning should not be compromised with the amount of information, needed to be
taught to the learners. Students build skills and understanding over time. And as a result, teachers
must not expect students to know everything all at once. They must help the students, to develop
and deepen their knowledge, by providing appropriate curriculum, and learning approaches, with
the ultimate goal of integrating their knowledge into various contexts.
The last principle of human development is Development is complex because it is the product
of biological, cognitive, and socioemotional processes.
In this principle our group has almost similar answers regarding its educational implications. Which are
number 1. Development is multi-dimensional yet holistic. 2.) Multidimensional aspects affect
educational development. And number 3.) The importance of holistic education
Development ia multidimensional for the reason that, it is a result of the interaction of his/her
biological, cognitive, and socioemotional processes. Thus, when finding the cause of some
developmental disruption, it is best to look at these three aspects holistically as changes in one
can affect the other processes as well.
In a sense, Education may appear to mostly involve cognitive processes as its purpose is to
sharpen our minds by continuously adding or changing our level of intelligence. However, just like
development, biological processes and socioemotional processes can also affect educational
development. Our learning is affected by the changes that are happening in our physical nature as
well as in our environment. Thus, education should not be solely focused on making students
intelligent. They are social and thinking beings who also need to know how to socialize and how to
handle their emotions.
The students' learning ability is complex as well. The knowledge and experiences they acquire in
the process of learning will continually evolve throughout their lifetime. The development is not
only concerned with the student's cognitive process but also it's biological and socioemotional
processes since these factors contribute to the overall learning experience of the students.
Lastly it is also holistic. For the reason that this three domains are interconnected. Thus
teachers can use a variety of methods and strategies to create a holistic learning culture. Through
holistic education, students can develop a strong sense of self and grow as whole individuals. Most
importantly, individuals develop in different but interconnected aspects of their being.
