The line graph compares the numbers of questions that a city-based tourist
information office was asked in 3 different ways between Jan and June 2011.
Overall, asking information about travelling in person and by making phone calls
became common, whereas the opposite trend was true for raising questions via letters or
emails. The number of questions received in person saw the most dramatic change over
the period.
In January, telephone was the most popular way for holidaymakers to pose
questions, with about 900 reported. This figure was roughly 500 higher than the quantity
of inquiries asked in person. Questions posed face-to-face outnumbered those via
telephone between March and April, after which the former surged to the highest point of
1900 and the latter increased dramatically to 1600 in June.
In contrast, the number of questions raised via letters and emails saw a steady
decline from just under 800 in Jan to approximately 400 in the final month.
