The increase in automation will lead to people losing their jobs

What would it be if for some reason everyone stops from the things that they are doing? Or
worse, everyone loses their job. How would it be? How people are going to adapt themselves? There is
no doubt that this topic could be seen from a variety of perspective, but if I were forced to take a
position, I would say that automation won’t lead to a jobless society, and here is why.

Firstly, the transit from manual to automatic labor. Starting with a bit of history, till the 18 th
century, people have made all their things manual, in other words, they were using their hands in order
to produce something. Starting with the 18 th century, the machines took the work, making the
manufacture process faster, less expensive and with less quality issues. However, we should understand
that firstly, we are talking about the 18 th century and we are now in the 21 st century. Automation helped
people to create more, creating objects that are less expensive, in other words, we are a consummatory
society and we always need objects, services and so on. The automation took the jobs that are
repetitive, creating fast results. Moreover, we are not at the level when we can leave the machines all
alone, there is always need of engineers to maintain the health status of the machinery. A valid example
here is the Ford factory. When they started producing the Ford model T, there were so many deposits
for a model, that they could not face all the orders, till they introduced the works of machines that has
made the process faster and more efficient, furthermore, people had more jobs. This is the clear
example that shows the importance of shifting from manual to auto.

Secondly, adaptation and creation. We are humans, the most complex machines that are on the
Earth surface and throughout the entire human evolution, we had the power to adapt to changes, what I
want to say is that people have the possibility to upgrade and automation will no longer be a problem.
Furthermore, people have the possibility to spend more time on creating and discovering new things, in
other words, people can shift their attention to things that are more important, instead of
manufacturing. Using the machines gives people plenty of room to make new experiments, to try new
things, briefly talking, they can evolve on other domains. The field of knowledge is unstoppable and
humans will do all the possible actions to learn and to do more, and automation is one of the things.
More jobs appear in other domains, which use people’s creativity and thinking power. A solid example
here is Elon Musk, the top 5 richest people in the world, in an interview for BBC states that automation
gave him possibility to create more departments of his businesses, and the human error is no longer a
big issue. We are in the time when we are in need of ideas, machines do the rest of the work.

In the light of all of the above, I can say that automation is the best thing for our society, where
the values have changes dramatically and ideas leads to jobs.
