Description/content Study objective

Our goal is to train students to become AI experts with practical experience tested in hands-on
situations. They will be able to

build bridges between specialist departments and IT experts,

identify new AI-related topics, and
successfully participate in and lead projects in AI.

Equipped with the right tools, our graduates can quickly integrate their hands-on knowledge in
their day-to-day careers. They will

have a sound knowledge of the subject areas of AI,

know the mathematical background,
have the computer science skills to develop software solutions, and
have practical experience from carrying out projects in collaboration with companies as
well as from their practical semester.

This makes them suitable for employment in conceptual design, model development, and
2
practical implementation (MLOps) as well as process consulting and decision-making.

Course content
In order to be able to transfer the potential of AI into practice in dialogue with the users, students of
the Bachelor’s degree programme in Applied Artificial Intelligence gain sound knowledge and
acquire skills in software engineering and mathematics as well as comprehensive knowledge in the
development of AI systems. In this respect, a particular focus of the degree programme is the
mathematical understanding of the fundamentals and the application of the various AI approaches
in practice.

In seven semesters, students thus acquire relevant professional competencies from computer
science, mathematics and artificial intelligence as well as important key competencies and soft
skills. In addition, they learn how to deal with AI in a responsible manner. They will be able to
recognise what AI is allowed to do and what it is not allowed to do and which ethical principles
must be observed. To support individual interests, students can choose from a large number of
additional modules, such as computer science, mathematics or engineering. A detailed overview of
the different modules can be found here.

Besides the theoretical studies, students work closely together with companies on various practical
projects and are thus able to gain further professional experience.

multifaceted and innovative profile with solid regional roots and an international reputation. The close link between the university,
industry and research is our key focus. Our students discover a practical approach to learning and benefit from an ideal learning
environment in this network. They acquire team skills and problem-solving expertise. We would like to offer you a glimpse of the wide-
ranging expertise available here and fill you with enthusiasm for our strengths, our diversity and, of course, our university.

Small but great – an excellent learning environment

Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences is known for its open and friendly atmosphere. Whether it be the students, the lecturers or the
staff: everyone is very committed to working together to shape the university. Intensive and individual support provided by lecturers,
studying in small group settings, application-focused teaching and training and the interdisciplinary exchange between the subjects and
faculties are just some of the many small but great aspects that characterise everyday student life and the university campus. Added to
this are the many well-equipped workshops and laboratories, which offer broad technical as well as creative scope for course-specific
projects in all subjects.

Ready to jump up the career ladder – a solid practical connection

Our students gain important experience that extends far beyond the boundaries of pure specialist knowledge by taking part in practical
projects with partners from diverse industries. From project management through to specific research assignments, the concept of theory-
practice transfer forms the focus of study at Rosenheim. Learning through actual projects encourages the development of elementary skills
like the ability to work in a team and solve problems and prepares students for the challenges of the real working life in the best possible
way.

In the network of the future – industry and research

Rosenheim has a long tradition of inspirational innovative strength and a solid market-oriented practical connection. As the number one
university partner in one of Europe’s strongest economic areas, our students have the best regional, national and also international links
with industry and research. Through study projects, theses, executive education programmes and applied research, we work intensively
with industry, including small and medium-sized companies, and act as forum, initiator, partner and catalyst for positive economic
development within the region and beyond.

University location
Where is Rosenheim?

Rosenheim is located in the south-eastern part of the German state of Bavaria. Close to the Alps, it is an area rich in scenic beauty and with
7
an impressive cultural heritage. About half an hour's drive from Germany's "high-tech capital", Munich, it is also the centre of a prospering
economic region with a population of about 100,000 inhabitants. Rosenheim is situated near three larger cities: Munich, Salzburg, and
Innsbruck. The Bavarian capital of Munich, for instance, is only 65 km away, which is why so many residents of Rosenheim commute back
and forth to this city every day. According to the European Commission, Rosenheim belongs to the “Alpine Arc” super region. This region
comprises the entire German, Austrian and Italian Alpine region, which makes it one of the strongest economic regions of the European
Union.

City of Rosenheim

The city of Rosenheim is an attractive place to live and study, with its unique Mediterranean flair and beautiful location in a unique
landscape of mountains, forests and lakes. You can sense the Italian influence in the plazas and squares in town, such as Max-Josefs-Platz
in the historic city centre. There you will notice the beautiful buildings with their pastel-coloured facades and arcades. These lend
Rosenheim a great deal of charm. Max-Josefs-Platz mirrors the vitality and atmosphere of the entire city. Whether it’s a beer at an old-
fashioned pub or an aperitif at a modern bar, tradition and progress complement each other perfectly in Rosenheim.

Studying with vision and outlook – studying in Rosenheim

Beautiful Bavaria – situated between Inntal and Chiemsee, Rosenheim is a picturesque city that charms inhabitants and visitors alike with
its southern flair and Alpine appeal. The impressive Alpine panorama and nearby mountains and lakes are home to all kinds of sporting
and leisure activities throughout the year, which ensures a very high standard of living for Rosenheim’s students.
