- Perhaps Rizal's appreciation of education was influenced by his mother, Doña

Teodora Alonzo. His mother was considered his first teacher.

- At the age of three he learned the alphabet and also taught him to appreciate
Spanish poetry. While studying at Binan, Rizal also invested his time to improve his
skills in arts.

- Rizal went to Ateneo de Manila and was a low rank in Carthagena Empire. Because
of this Rizal studied lessons at Colegio santa de Isabel during his free time for 3
pesos. With that, he was able to lead his class called Emperor.
- Rizal also joined a fraternity called Mary and Saint Louis Gonzaga to sharpen not
only his capacity for critical thinking and discernment, but also his love for God and
country, which members are top ranking students in their class. And at the end of the
year, he was one of the 9 best students.
- Rizal got more interested in reading books like Count of Monte Cristo, Travels, and
Universal History.
- Received medals and started reading Romance Novels and continued writing poems

- And finished with a Bachelor of Arts whit the highest grade in all subjects and
graduated highest grade called Sobreiente
- Rizal himself wished to establish a school that would meet the needs of current times
and situations. He even recognized the importance of industrial education as well.

- Jose Rizal spent his time after was exiled to Dapitan in 1893 educating young
children. Rizal used what he learned at the many schools he visited throughout his
travels to good use. Reading, writing, arithmetic, geography, geometry, languages,
history, and good behaviour were among the disciplines they were taught.

- Rizal even taught practical lessons on how to utilize their hands, because he felt that
education should be instilled or linked with communal development.

- Rizal spent much of his time in self-improvement via self-education. Not only was he
busy academically, but he also learned sculpture, painting, languages including
German, and kept up with the latest conversations globally in philosophy and
science. Even in exile in Dapitan (a remote town in Mindanao), he used his time in
cataloging the local animal kingdom and plants to share with fellow revolutionists.
