OUR SCHOOL

I have been studying at Vörösmarty Mihály Primary, Secondary and Arts School for … years.
There are about 600-700 students and 40-50 teachers in the school.
To complete their studies here, all the students have to take a school-leaving exam in Hungarian Grammar and
Literature, History, Mathematics, a foreign language and an optional science subject.

The school has one building where we have a lot of facilities, for example, there is a language lab, a
chemistry lab, two well-equipped computer rooms and a library with a lot of books, even in foreign languages.
In some classrooms we have an interactive whiteboard and every classroom has internet connection. The
headmaster’s room and the staff room are upstairs.
There’s also a swimming pool and a gym in the school so we can have good P.E. lessons.
We hold school meetings and celebrations, for example, Christmas and carnivals in the big assembly room.
The school leavers’ ball and the freshers’ ball take place here, too. We have a canteen in the school and I
always eat there because the food is very delicious. / but I always eat at home because the food isn’t very
delicious there.
The school has a huge yard. It has a big playground with some benches, tables and a table tennis board. We
have sports tracks, a football pitch and a basketball course where children can play in the afternoon.
Our subjects are Hungarian Grammar and Literature, Foreign Languages (English German, Italian and
Russian), Maths, History, Arts, Music, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Studies, R(eligious)
E(ducation) and P(hysical) E(ducation).
I’m good at most of the subjects. My favourite subjects are … .
This is/isn’t a strict school with a lot of / some rules. … We mustn’t smoke, take drugs or drink
alcohol. During the lesson we mustn’t talk, eat, use our mobile phones or chew gums. It is not allowed to be
late for school or play truant. We mustn’t skateboard or rollerskate in the yard and of course we mustn’t say 4-
letter words.
On the other hand, we must learn as well as we can and do our homework. We have to be on time and bring
along our school stuff. It is not bad if we are polite to our teachers. This attitude can be useful. Fortunately, we
don’t have to wear a uniform.
The first lesson starts at 8.00, but we have to be in the school by 7.45 the latest. I usually have …
lessons a day. We have 10-15-minute breaks between lessons,
There are … of us in our class. (atmosphere, teachers, form teacher, friends, class trips, … )

An important reason for choosing this school was that it has a language preparatory course. I have always
liked the English language so I thought this school would be perfect for me.
I like this school because it’s near my home, and the teachers are kind and well-qualified.
