NURS-3020-A-W01

1. By the end of the clinical rotation, I would like to improve at completing focused
assessments of the patient, depending on their condition(s). I will obtain feedback from
my clinical instructor, peers, and other nurses on the floor on how I could improve, and
then implement the changes necessary. To evaluate the goal, I will complete an
assessment in front of my clinical instructor in the beginning of the semester, and then
again at the end of the semester to assess for improvement in my assessment skills.
2. By the end of the clinical rotation, I would like to become more confident in preparing IV
medications and lines. To achieve this goal, I will take every opportunity available to me
to watch, learn, and practice any skill related to IV’s (i.e., shadowing other nurses,
practicing with other nurses or clinical instructor, etc.). To evaluate that I have completed
this goal, I will be able to state back to my clinical instructor that I have an increase in
confidence for this specific skill.
3. By the end of the clinical rotation, I would like to improve and gain more confidence in
performing more advanced wound care dressings (i.e., sterile dressings, packed wound
dressing changes, etc.). To achieve this goal, I will take every opportunity to practice
these skills or to shadow/assist another nurse who may be completing this skill. To
evaluate the completion of this goal, I will be able to state at the end of the semester that I
have increased confidence in this skill and will be able to more confidently show my
clinical instructor the skill being completed.
4. By the end of the clinical rotation, I would like to learn/improve in using the new EPIC
charting system. I will achieve this goal by charting whenever possible, asking questions
about the system and documentation whenever necessary. To evaluate this goal, I will be
able to state an increase in confidence in EPIC charting by the end of the semester.
