THIRD QUARTERLY ASSESSMENT

MATS04G: STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY

INSTRUCTIONS

1. This activity’s score will take place in the Quarterly Assessment component; this
activity will be 25% of the student’s overall final grade for the First Quarter.

2. A video explanation will take place as an alternative to the usual quarterly

examination. So instead of solving problems using paper-and-pen, a video of you
explaining how you obtained the answer for each problem will be the basis for your
third quarter assessment score.

3. Each student must take a video of them explaining THREE items per test. Kindly
indicate the original number of items you have answered for each test.

4. You will be given a set of questions (that can be found at the end of this file) wherein
you are to choose three items and explain the process of how you obtained your answer.
The video must be less than or equal to 30 mins in length with discernible quality.
The audio must be reasonably understandable. If necessary/time permits, please do
include subtitles. Also, the student may be seen or not be seen in the video (half-body will
do also) and you must solve it on the spot. The solutions must also be visible for
your instructor to check if you have written them correctly.

5. In taking a video, you can use a pen and a paper or a marker and a board just like what
I do during our discussion. You may also use a PowerPoint presentation or any
presentation application that can aid you in doing this requirement.

6. No two students must have the same set of numbers for each test and the entire
Quarterly Assessment and/or have the same way of explaining a certain item. If this
will happen an automatic score of zero will be received by both students. There are a
lot of possible combinations of items that can be used for the entire written work so it is
not possible that two students can have the same set of items.

distribution with a mean of 60 years and a standard deviation of 5 years. What is the
probability that an individual will develop the disease before the age of 50?
