PAST SIMPLE : REGULAR VERBS

We use the Past Simple tense to talk about events in the past .
Example :
The ship sailed from Panjang to Surabaya last year .
With most regular verbs , add – ed
Start + ed = started
Sail + ed = sailed
If the verb ends in -e , add -d
Like + d = liked
If the verb ends with a consonant + vowel + consonant
Repeat the consonant and add - ed

Stop + p + ed = stopped

If the verb ends with a consonant + y , changed the – y to i + ed

Carry + ied = carried
