Sonatina by Jacques Castérède(7,30) is a piece for C Tuba or Bb Saxhorn and Piano.

This
work is quite romantic but it can be difficult and technical to execute. It would be
recommended for advanced players.

Composed in three distinct parts, this Sonatina lasts between 7’15 and 7’30. These three
sections are:
- Défilé
- Sérénade
- Final

Jacques Castérède (1926-2014) is a renowned composer and pianist. He has won the
Grand Prix de Rome in 1953 and has composed numerous melodic pieces including ballets,
concertos, symphonies, ensemble and chamber music.

Tuba Sonatine By Koetsier(7.35) was Written During the modernistic period of composers.
Right after Vauhgan Williams had made the tuba popular writting his Tuba concerto, Koetsier
Wrote his sonatine for tuba.

Koetsier was a mischievous man who often wrote many classical line for the tuba with his
own twist of clash and extended chords given a certain unsettling feeling to his tonal music.

Concertante Suite by Danielsson (7.20) written for Tuba solo and Horn Quartet follows a
ever chaining tonal Centre which moves with the different sections of the piece. 1st
movement, starts with a brass fanfare which has a call and response feel to it where tuba
and horn exchange the initiating sounds. 4th movement starts of as a march where the tuba
plays the consistent down beats the horn ride on with the melody. Then a lyrical flowy
melody and counter melody is exchanged by the horns and tuba. Tuba constantly moves
from Solo and Accompaniment towards the end of the piece before ending off with a unison
ending.

Midnight relities (5.3) by Morgan Powell talks about the life after night during Midnight as soft
tones of the tuba creeps in and almost random sounding loud entrances make the midnight
quite a scary time of the day.
