15. Reema is a promising girl and has a keen interest in Physics. She performed the (4)
following activities using a long coil of many turns, a bar magnet, a galvanometer, a
battery, key and connecting wires.

Activity 1: She connected the coil to the battery and key. On bringing a bar magnet towards

Activity 2: She immediately disconnected the battery and connected a galvanometer.

On bringing the bar magnet towards the coil, she observed a momentary deflection in the
galvanometer.

Answer the following questions on the basis of your understanding of the above
paragraph:
(a) Why did she feel repulsion in activity 1? [1]
(b) Name and define the phenomenon due to which she had observed a momentary
deflection in the galvanometer in activity 2. [1]
(c) Will she observe the deflection in the galvanometer if in Activity 2, she moves the
coil with respect to a stationary bar magnet ? Justify. [2]

OR
(c) Plot the magnetic field lines around the current carrying coil in activity 1.
