1. This question paper consists
of 3 sections.
2. Section A-Physics, Section
B-Chemistry and Section C-
3. All questions of all sections are Biology.
compulsory, however internal choices are there in each
section.
4. Marks are allotted
against each question in each
section.

of the paper as shown in the figure. (2)
() Find the directions of the magnetic fields produced by it at
points R and S?
(ii) Given >rz, where will the strength of the magnetic field be
larger? Give reasons.

OR

magnetic field due to a current carrying a circular loop.
Q2. (a) List the factors on which the resistance of conductor in the shape of a wire
depends. (3)
(6) Why are metals good conductors of electricity whereas glass is a bad conductor of
electricity? Give reason.
()Why are alloys commonly used in electrical heating devices? Give reason.
93. Show how would you join three resistors, each ofresistance 9 Q so that the equivalent
resistance
ofthe combination is () 13.52 (i) 9Show with the help ofcalculations

A circuit has a line of 5 A. How many lamps of rating 40 W, 200 V can simultaneously
run on this line safely?
Q4. Electromagnetic induction can be generated in two ways, namely when the electric
conductor is kept in a moving magnetic field and when the electric conductor is
constantly moving within a static magnetic field. The phenomenon of electromagnetic
induction was first discovered by Michael Faraday when he moved a bar magnet through
an electric coil. He noticed a change in voltage of the circuit. The factors that could
influence the electromagnetic induction are the number of coils, the strength of the
magnet, the changing magnetic fields and the speed of relative motion between coil and
magnet.
(a) What is electromagnetic induction? (1)
the
(b) A magnet is moved towards a coil (a) quickly (b) slowly. In which case
induced current will be more.
(c) State the law which determines the direction of induced current in a coil?
(2)

What is meant by the term "magnetic field lines"7 Why don't two magnetic field
lines intersect each other?
