Past Simple :

Was / Were = Yesterday, last year, ago, before, the day before yesterday.

We were very happy.

Where were you?

Whose son he was?

Regular verb + ed = help + ed / work + ed

Irregular verb : come -came/ Bring- brought

Did + infinitive = interrogative / negative

Examples: 1) When did he finish school?

3) When he finished school I was very small

4) Did he know, that you were not at home?

5) Why didn`t you tell me the truth?

Past continuous = was/were +ing = at 5 o`clock yesterday, from 5 to 6, at this time yesterday, the
whole day yesterday, all day long yesterday

Examples: I was learning from 5 to 6 yesterday.

2) What were you doing the whole day yesterday?

3) He was resting at this time yesterday.

Past simple + Past Continuous

I was eating when he came

He was studying, when mother knocked at the door.

Used to – xolme + infinitive

Examples: I used to play much

Did he use to study much?

He didn`t use to speak much.

To be +used to + ing = miCveuli var

I am used to living alone.

Am I used to living alone?

I`m not used to living alone.

Get used to + ing - SeCveva

I got used to eating in the morning

Did you get used to eating in the morning?

I`m getting used to eating in the morning.

Past Perfect (წარსულის წარსული დრო)

Had+3rd form of the verb

1) In the past perfect we have two past tenses and one of them happens earlier than
another one and this one always will be in the past perfect tense.

Example: When I came, he had already gone.

I was very nervous, because I had never seen him

2) Past perfect is also used with the time expression by – im droisTvis

By that time they had already finished their work.

1)როცა ორი მოქმედება გვაქვს წარსულში,ამ მოქმედებებიდან უფრო ადრე რომელიც

მოხდა იქნება past perfect-ში.

2) ან როცა გვინდა ვთქვათ,რომ წარსულში ამ დროს,მე რაღარც კაგეთებული მქონდა .

( this time yesterday I had already eaten)

( მე ნაჭამი მქონდა,წასული ვიყავი 2 საათისთვის)წარსულში დაიწყო,წარსულში

გრძელდებოდა და წარსულშივე დამთავრდა.

Past perfect continuous

Had been+ing
Past perfect continuous also includes two past tenses, where one of them was happening earlier than
previous one and this one will be in the past perfect continuous.
Examples : Dato gave up smoking two years ago, but before he had been smoking for five years.

When I looked out of the window, the ground was wet, so it had been raining.

(წარსულში იყო რაღაც პერიოდი რასაც ვაკეთებდი და ახლა აღარ ვაკეთებ)

მაგ: შარშან ამ დროისთვის,უკვე 4 წელი იყო რაც მე ინგლისურს ვსწავლობდი. I had learning
English for 4 years. ანუ,წარსულში ვსწავლობდი.
