Term Definition

Reliability The consistency of test administration, scores and/or test

results.

Validity A test must meet the needs of stakeholders, be used for

intended purposes on the intended population, and offer
an accurate interpretation of test scores.

Washback The effects of a test on teachers’ and students’ actions

and society as a whole.

Practicality The feasibility of a test given resources such as materials,

funding, time, expertise, and staff.
