NOTES ON PAGINATION

This R&H score contains a 10-page glitch in the pagination---probably dating to when the
show was reorchestrated for the 1999 revival.

No music is missing; the arranger’s cuts from the revival are marked OMITTED on the
contents page. But page numbers 604-613 are duplicated---and just to make things confusing,
some were fixed in ink before scanning.

Here are the nasty details:

Book 1 (pp 1-311): no pagination problems
Book 2 (pp 312-539): no pagination problems
Book 3 (pp 540-863): fine up through p.613 (the last page of the “Ballroom Waltz”). But the
following page is numbered 604 instead of 614, and the error continues through the end of
the score.

At some point, someone began to renumber the duplicated pages, but got only up through
remarking page 630 as 640. So what should be p. 641 (p 28 of “Whom Do You Love?”) is
marked 630, and the error continues from there to the end.

One other weirdity: Pages 3 & 4 of “Sun in the Morning” were apparently repaired and
rescanned after being partly torn. They’re in the correct place and have the correct page
numbers (682 and 683), but they sit in the middle of the uncorrected-page-number section.
The music’s fine, but the pages go 670, 671, 682, 683, 674. . . . )

Just so you know.
