Unit: Data Extraction and Load

At the conclusion of this exercise, you will be able to:


 Create an InfoPackage to load a flat CSV file into BW.

In the following exercises, XX Equals your PC number.

1-1 Become familiar with your SD InfoCube. You will find it in the
Application Component “TES: TES TechEd Scheduler Hands-on”
 Administrator Workbench – Data Target – TES (TechEd
Scheduler) – TESH_Hands_on (TechEd Scheduler Hands-on)
- TESH_SD (TESH Hands-on SD Data).
 InfoCube technical name = “BW08_XX”

1-2 Create an InfoPackage for InfoSource “TESH_SD”


 Administrator Workbench – InfoSource Tab – TechEd Scheduler – TES
Teched Scheduler Hands-on – TESH Hands-on SD Data – PCFile – Create
InfoPackage
 Create InfoPackage
 Name = XXSDLoad
 Select Data Tab: leave blank
 External Data Tab:
 (File name will be provided by the instructor.)

 External Data Parameters Tab:

 Processing Tab: PSA and data targets in parallel - all other options leave blank
 Data Targets Tab: Select the radial button for “Select Data Targets” and then click
on the InfoCube “BW08_XX”. NOTE: In order to avoid conflicting with
other exercises, please make sure that only the InfoCube object that has been
assigned to you and that the correct radial button is marked.
 Update parameters Tab: Select full update and “Always update data, even if no
master data exists for the data.”

 Schedule Tab: Click on the radial button to execute immediately.
 Save
 Click on the start button to execute the data load.
 Monitor the data load
 Click on the monitor icon at the top of the screen.
 Reconfigure the tree.
 Click on the icon that looks like a hierarchy
 Drag and drop to make the tree appear in the following sequence: status light,
user name, date, InfoPackage
 Save and return to the monitor tree
 Find your infopackage and check the status.
