Skills Practice 1: Defining Your Role (Individual Activity)

As a Securities Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel, my role

is to protect the welfare and best interest of the public in relation to

legal questions and issues involving interpretation of the provision

provided under the Revised Corporation Code, Securities Regulation

Code and etc. In order to contribute in achieving the OGC’s goal, I

am tasked to do the following responsibilities, to wit: (1) render legal

opinions involving interpretation of the laws which the Commission is

mandated to implement, (2) attend legislative franchise hearings with

the Congress with respect to the renewal of the franchise of public

franchises, (3) Attend meetings and conferences on behalf of the

Commission, (4) Review and Comment on the legal contracts and

other legal instruments to which the Commission is a party/signatory

thereto, (4) Entertain walk-in/phone/email legal queries involving

complex issues from the public.
