Nerf Wars Official Rules

We the Admins of the Nerf Wars don’t want to deal with you guys, but we will if necessary. This
document should cover everything. If you’re confused, nicely, ask an admin

ARTICLE I: PreGame

Section I: The Process

● Each Nerf Wars team consists of 5 five members of either all seniors, all juniors or a mix
of both
● Each team is required to submit their team name and money by the deadline decided
upon by the admins
● Once the deadline is passed, all teams that have paid will be placed into a bracket
○ The bracket will be completely random unless the admins feel like putting certain
teams up against each other
○ If the number of teams doesn’t fit into an even bracket, a certain team or teams
will be given a BYE
■ The team(s) with the BYE will be selected by a voting of “which team has
the best name” by either a Twitter poll or by the admins themselves

Section II: The Game set-up

● 5 on 5 matchup (the round starts Tuesday at 12:00 am)
● The only players you can shoot, hit with sword, or kidnap are the ones from the opposing
team
● The team with the most eliminations at the end of the week (Monday 12:00 am) wins that
round and advances
● In the event of a tie score at the end of the week
○ whoever got first elimination advances
○ It it's a 0-0 tie, the admins will schedule a Sudden shootout to take place on
Monday
○ A disqualification does not count as first blood
■ In the event of a tie you must look at only in game eliminations, not
disqualifications
● Anyone who is out CAN and CAN NOT do the following things
○ CAN: Drive, be there for moral support
○ CAN NOT: Use a gun/sword, help kidnap
● If your team advances, teams reset and you are no longer out
● If a player gets injured or just CAN’T play for any reason, they CAN be substituted. The
sub must be someone not on an active Nerf Wars team.
ARTICLE II: Weapons

Section I: Guns
● All guns that shoot foam darts are allowed (no balls)
● Guns CAN NOT be modded
● No real weapons allowed

Section II: Swords

● Nerf Swords are allowed see Article III, Section IV for more information
○ All Nerf brand swords are allowed
○ Anything else has to be made of foam and no longer than 3 feet

ARTICLE III: The Game

Section I: Eliminations
● If you shoot someone with a foam dart, that counts as an elimination as long as
○ They are actually your opponent
○ The dart was fired from a gun, NOT thrown
○ If you shot them from a car, the car must be in park
○ If you shot them while they were in a car, the car must be in park
○ It was a direct shot and NOT a ricochet dart
○ They are not naked
● If you hit someone (naked or clothed) with a foam sword, that counts as an elimination
as long as
○ They are actually your opponent
○ You hit them with the sword and didn’t throw it at them
○ You are naked
● Please just be honest about eliminations guys
● You CAN NOT use anything to shield yourself (no human shields either)
● You can block swords with other swords if engaged in a naked sword fight
● See Section III for information on where you CAN and CAN NOT shoot people
● See Section IV for information on eliminating people with swords

Section II: Kidnapping

● you CAN kidnap people whether you are clothed or naked
● You CAN NOT kidnap someone who is naked
● You CAN NOT kidnap on school grounds
● See Section III for further information on where you CAN and CAN NOT kidnap people
Section III: Safe Zones
● In these safe zones you CAN NOT be shot or hit by sword, BUT you CAN be kidnapped
in the parking lots of the following places:
○ Union Center Chipotle
○ Liberty Center Chick-fil-a
○ The Cone
○ Any Gym
○ Church or other religious events
○ Any school sponsored event
● In these safe zones you also CAN NOT be shot or hit by sword, BUT you CAN be
kidnapped, BUT ALSO you have 5 minutes of immunity in the parking lots of the
following places and times:
○ Before entering/after leaving your work (must be working though)
○ Before entering/after leaving any sports event (CAN either be watching or
participating)
○ Before entering/after leaving practice
● No Nerf Wars inside any building
○ Unless it is a person’s house and you were given permission to enter by
someone who lives there
● You CAN shoot into people's houses

Section IV: Nudity

● You are only naked when you have ZERO articles of clothing on yourself
● The following do NOT count as articles of clothing
○ Glasses
○ Jewelry/bracelets
○ Watches
○ Footwear and socks
● If you are holding an article of clothing, you are NOT naked
● You CAN NOT throw an article of clothing onto a player that is naked to qualify them as
clothed
● Naked players CAN:
○ Use a sword to eliminate someone who is either clothed or naked
○ Kidnap just like normal
○ Get eliminated by another naked player with a sword
● Naked players CAN NOT:
○ Be shot
○ Be kidnapped
Section V: Scouting
● Scouting is defined as surveying the area and looking to see if anyone on the opposing
team is in the area
● CAN scout:
○ You
○ People on your team who have not been eliminated
○ All active players on your team can use security cameras to scout
● CAN NOT scout:
○ People not on your team
○ People on your team who HAVE ALREADY BEEN ELIMINATED

ARTICLE IV: Penalties

Section I: Warnings
● An admin will survey the seriousness of the offense to see if it deserves a disqualification
or not
● Multiple warnings will lead to a disqualification
● Blocking cars with either other vehicles, trash cans, or other objects will result in a
warning and then a disqualification if the object isn’t moved within 5 minutes.

Section II: Disqualifications

● If a player is disqualified for the round, it is counted as an elimination and then it resets if
the team advances
● If a player is disqualified for the entire game, it is counted as a elimination for each round
the team advances to
● If a team is disqualified, the opposing team automatically moves on to the next round
● The length and level of punishment will be decided by all the admins
● The following can get you or your team disqualified
○ Threatening to or calling the cops for any reasons
○ Doing anything nerf wars related on school grounds
○ Making someone late to school, work, or practice/game
○ Getting parents or the school involved
○ Property damage
○ Attempting to or taking pictures or videos of a naked player
○ Reckless driving
● If your team is consistently causing trouble, your entire team will be disqualified if all
admins agree
ARTICLE V: Disputes
● As unfair as you think the admins are, we are trying our best to manage every single
team
● If a problem arises try to come to a conclusion on your own by referring to the rules
○ If further help is needed, contact an admin or message the Twitter page
● Once a situation is brought to the admins, the admins will remain in contact with the
disputing teams and form a decision
● If a dispute can legitimately not be settled, it will be settled by a coin flip
