What’s My Number?

Day 2
Use the spinner that you made for What’s My Number? Day 1.

Draw a chart like the one below in your notebook. Use your spinner to fill in each
column. When you spin you can decide which column to put that number in. For
example, if you spin a 6 first, you can choose whether to place it in the thousands,
hundreds, tens or ones column. I chose the hundreds column. When all the columns
are full, write the number you have made in the last column. Make four different
numbers.
thousands hundreds tens ones My number
7 5 2 3 7 523

After making your four different numbers write each number in words like the
example below.

My number in words= seven thousand five hundred and twenty-three

After writing each number in words, write the expanded form of your number. See
the example below.

My number in extended form= 7 000 + 500 + 20 + 3

When writing numbers in expanded form, check the following.
 Start at the digit at the beginning of the number (left end).
 Make sure you use enough zeros to show the value of that digit.

Optional: Try making numbers in the tens of thousands or hundreds of

thousands.
