ASYNCHRONOUS ACTIVITY - WEEK 2 TOPIC

1. Summarize the three main categories of crimes involving computers.

A crime in which a computer is the object of the crime or is utilized as a tool to accomplish an infraction
is referred to as cybercrime. A cybercriminal can utilize a device to get access to a user's personal
information, private corporate information, or government information, or to deactivate it. Selling or
obtaining the aforesaid information via the internet is likewise a criminal.

 Property: This is analogous to a real-life situation in which a criminal fraudulently obtains a

person's bank or credit card information. The hacker takes a person's bank account information
in order to obtain access to cash, make online transactions, or launch phishing schemes to trick
individuals into giving over their personal information. They might even employ malicious
software to get access to a website containing sensitive data.
 Individual: This type of cybercrime includes a single person disseminating harmful or unlawful
material via the internet. This can involve cyberstalking, pornographic distribution, and human
trafficking.
 Government: Although this is the least prevalent type of cybercrime, it is the most damaging.
Cyber terrorism is a crime committed against the government. Hacking government and military
websites, as well as delivering propaganda, are examples of government cybercrime. Terrorists
or foreign countries' enemies are frequently the perpetrators of these crimes.
