Principle of active involvement

This implies that for learning to take place, the student must be focus or engaged directly with the
activity or task where he may draw knowledge, concepts, principles, attitudes, skills or habits.

With educational technology, students can be given various materials from realia to contrived
experiences; from pictures to worksheets; projectors and computers and software to keep them
engage and active in the quest for knowledge. The various modalities for learning can be utilized at
the same time with concrete experiences provided by the various media of instruction. The student
must be focused or engaged directly with the activity or task where he may draw knowledge,
concepts, principles, attitudes, skills or habits. The student should take an active role in the search
for knowledge. According to Froebel “learning is the result of the activity of the child him self.” With
educational technology, student can be given various materials from realia to contrived experiences.

Principle Of Connectivity  This involves the building of relationships or linkages between and
among experiences. The process of connectivity facilitates remembering of names, dates, events,
issues, processes including spelling, number combinations, grammatical relationships and formula in
mathematics.

Principles Of Integration To integrate means to bring together so as to form awhole. There are
various ways the principle of integration maybe applied in education. Integration also refers to the
bringing together ofstudents from different ethnic and social backgrounds. But thisis of little value if
the content of education is drawn from oneculture only. Education needs to be multicultural.
Perhapsmore importantly, it needs to be intercultural. As important tointercultural learning as is the
understanding and appreciationof cultural differences is the recognition of similarities andcommon
values. The students should be able to combinehis previous experiences together inmeaningful
patterns of understanding andapplication. They can either be supplement orcomplemental to each
other to strengthenthe effect of teaching and learning. To dothis, one must be able to see
similaritiesand differences of ideas, concepts, andissues including various phenomena.

Principle Of Intention Learning does not take place unless the student has a purpose or intention
for undertaking the activity. “Learning is not by accident, learning is intentionally undertaken”
Teachers can structure a means by which the learners can identified a need, which they have not
felt before.

Principles of Creativity and Innovation The ability to produce an original concept or idea and
translate it to some forms of expression like a piece of art or craft, a musical score or a literary piece.
Creativity is a special talent, which most of the students and pupils have.

Principles of Discovery  This is what psychologists’ term as the ”AHA!” experience.  Students
are elated at the thought of being able to discover by themselves the solutions to their problems. 
They feel so accomplished if they are able to discover a process, a relationship or a pattern of
behaviour with the lest assistance from their teacher.
