Area of a Triangle Worksheet (Easier)

“I can find the area of compound shapes made up of triangles” (Grade D).

1) Find the area of the shaded triangle RST.

2) A tree is in the middle of a garden.


Around the tree there is a square region where nothing
will be planted. The dimensions of the garden are shown
in the diagram:

How much area can be planted?

3) Find the area of the shaded part of each triangle.


4) This shape is made from two right-angled triangles.

Work out the perimeter and the area of the shape.

5) Chris is working out the area of one of the walls of his garden shed.
The diagram shows the dimensions:

a. Calculate the area of the wall.

b. Chris wants to repaint the shed.


The length of the shed is 4m and Chris knows that a tin of paint covers 10m².
How many tins of paint does he need?
