Constructing a new shopping center can stimulate employability, competitiveness and diversity.

First, the reading passage states the production of a shopping center can stimulate local economy
generating great deal of jobs, increasing job opportunities for the whole population. However, the
listening passage contrasts the lecture ideas criticizing that many shopping centers requires highly
skilled workers. This can generate greater hiring of workers who live outside the city than those
who live in the community.

Second, the lecture explains the construction of a shopping center stimulates business field
making consumers to purchase more good in a centralized place. In addition the reading passage
exposes that this initiative can also attract people from different communities enriching the local’s
economy power. In other side the women disagree with this affirmation claiming that small
entrepreneurs are not prepared to compete with the low prices offered by stores inside the mall.
Moreover everything that the consumers want is inside the shopping, as a result they have low
consumption of their products.

Finally, the reading passage defends that there is greater variety and diversity in the shopping
centers because everything can be found in a unique place, making consumers to get what they
want. In other hand the listening passage opposes that situation mentioning that stories located
outside the mall do not possesses a diversity of items, this will impact negatively the local trade.
