To Whom It May Concern,

Jing Gong completed her community service and her first year practicum placement, teaching
under my supervision, at Agincourt Road School, in Ottawa. Over the course of her seven months
with me, she worked one on one with students providing organizational support and worked her
way up to taking over the planning and teaching of my grade 8 language and math classes, my
rotary gr 7 and 8 art classes and visual art to an intermediate autism unit. I am very pleased to
provide this letter recommending her for a teaching position.

Jing’s classroom management is consistent and very compassionate, balancing the needs of a wide
variety of students with the need to cover curriculum. Her lessons are engaging and student
focused, while providing appropriate scaffolding for those who need it. She is particularly good at
modelling and helping the students to make connections to what they are learning, and how they
are learning. Jing has shown elastic flexibility when it comes to unscheduled interruptions to
regular teaching time. Having done her placement during a global pandemic, she has had to move
back and forth from online to in person teaching several times.

Jing has spent most lunches providing extra support for struggling students. Her organizational
abilities and kindness are evident in the way she manages the classroom, gives detailed,
thoughtful and constructive feedback, and in her reflection, when it comes to her teaching
practices. She seeks out and uses all feedback to continually better her teaching practice.

In summary, Jing has displayed all of the qualities which are most important for a teacher. She is
motivated, patient, compassionate, organized and flexible. She works well with the students and
her colleagues. I highly recommend her for a teaching position.

Sincerely,

Wenna Doig
