I agree that police officers should have a college degree to fulfill their law enforcement

duties without a glitch. Since most employers are looking to hire candidates with a college

degree, police officers should not be an exception. A college degree would help officers discern

better when they are out on patrol or when they are arresting a person. Educated people are

civilized, and hiring educated police officers would go a long way in ensuring that there are

fewer police brutality charges to various law enforcement departments. Also, tertiary education

would eliminate risks associated with adverse selection, moral hazard, and asymmetric

association risks that are currently an irrefutable issue.

In society, the population is becoming more educated because securing a well-paying job

without the necessary educational background is becoming a challenge. Police interact with

educated people who are very cunny and may get away with concealing their criminal nature by

using reason to avoid legal repercussions. I also agree that hiring police officers with no college

degree might be problematic because they will not use their judgment very well and may end up

arresting innocent people. Learned police officers can use their intelligence to make a calculated

judgment that may catch criminals off-guard and may solve more complex cases easily if they

are not relying on their expertise to make judgments.
